The 2020 release from CD PROJEKT RED is available during the 2023 Steam Winter Sale at a hefty 50% discount. While Cyberpunk 2077 initially launched to backlash in an unfinished state, the game has received steady updates including a major 2.0 update in September which brought the game incredibly close to the version that was originally promised to us at launch. Now light-years ahead of what it was before, Cyberpunk provides an action-adventure RPG experience easily worth 50+ hours of gameplay. Experience the vibrant (and often quite violent) life of Night City the way it was intended if you haven’t already had the chance to do so. It is entirely worth it full price, and an absolute steal at $29.99. An honorable mentionCyberpunk 2077’s brand new DLC, “Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty” is also available on sale at a 15% discount. If you are interested in both the base game and the DLC and you really want to save some money, then consider purchasing the Ultimate Edition of the game for $51.04 – and enjoy 43% savings.

The 2022 game of the year is also available throughout the 2023 Steam Winter Sale for a steep discount! Like all of FromSoftware’s titles, Elden Ring is famed for its difficult but rewarding combat that tests your skill against a variety of creatures and monsters. Unique to Elden Ring, however, is its vast open world that encourages players to explore every inch and secret it has to offer. Intense boss fights, polished environmental and narrative storytelling, and an amazing soundtrack are all on offer in Elden Ring. You can also play cooperatively with a friend or with people online, if you are into that sort of thing.

4. Red Dead Redemption 2; $19.79

5. Sid Meier’s Civilization VI; $5.99

Originally priced at $59.99

For those interested in the 4X genre of strategic gaming, Firaxis’s latest installment in their Civilization series may be for you. Civilization VI allows you to play as a growing civilization competing with others to take over the world – through cultural, scientific, and diplomatic enlightenment, or through utter domination. All playable civilizations are tailored based upon their actual historical likenesses, each providing unique gameplay and bonuses that make new playthroughs completely unique. Civilization VI also has extensive modding support via the Steam Workshop, allowing you to add variety and tweak your game exactly to your liking. Most of the major DLCs are also being offered at a discount, and can be purchased in bundles to save even more of your sweet, sweet cash.

6. Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered; $35.99

Originally priced at $59.99

Have you ever wanted to really FEEL like you were Spiderman? Marvel’s Spider-Man from Insomniac is the absolute best way to come close to that feeling. (Well, maybe not THE best way…still waiting on Sony to release Insomniac’s newest Spiderman game to the PC) Many of the villains and characters you’ve come to know in the Spiderman universe are here including Doc Ock, Kingpin, and MJ – with many more surprises and unexpected twists. The web-swinging alone is worth the price of admission as you can get lost in yourself for hours swinging around New York City and fighting crime, harking back to the days of Spider-Man 2 on the original Xbox. Easily one of the best superhero games currently available on the Steam marketplace. And if you want even more Spiderman, then “Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales” is also available on during the 2023 Steam Winter Sale at a 40% discount, albeit for a much shorter experience.

7. BattleBit Remastered; $8.99

Originally priced at $14.99

The ONLY game on this list that is technically still in early access at the time of writing, BattleBit Remastered is the like the weird child of Battlefield meets Roblox that actually turns out to be a lot of fun. Battlebit is an FPS that offers a massive sandbox alongside 254 player servers. Graphically it may not look too impressive at first glance, but a quick look at the Steam reviews for the game and you’ll see that it makes little difference to just how plain fun the game can be. BattleBit continues to support a large player base and is consistently getting updates, which is enough to convince us to give it our seal of approval.

8. Halo: The Master Chief Collection; $9.99

Originally priced at $39.99

Halo was the franchise that defined the FPS genre as we know it. You can get all of the mainline Halo games and all of their multiplayers, apart from Halo 5 and Halo Infinite, for less than $10. Six games, $9.99. Say less.

9. DAVE THE DIVER; $15.99

Originally priced at $19.99

A game for those looking for something on the casual side, Dave the Diver released summer of 2023 to high acclaim. Dave the Diver tasks you with diving into the ocean to catch fish by day so that you can manage your sushi restaurant by night. The highlight of the game is definitely its addicting gameplay loop, seconded by the beautiful 2D art style. If you are a fan of games like Stardew Valley, Graveyard Keeper, or Harvest Moon, you’ll almost certainly enjoy this.

10. Mass Effect Legendary Edition; $5.99

Originally priced at $59.99

Similar to our selection of the Master Chief Collection, Mass Effect Legendary Edition includes the entire remastered trilogy of Mass Effect games and over 40 of their DLCs for less than $6. This action-RPG series is bolstered by a massive universe, incredible lore and characters, and an overarching plot rooted in player choice that extends the entirety of the trilogy. If you want to explore everything that the galaxy (and the things that lurk beyond it) have to offer, this is the pick up for you. Honorable mention – the 4th game in the series, “Mass Effect: Andromeda”, although not quite as good as the original trilogy, is also being discounted during the 2023 Steam Winter Sale for $7.99 if you are so inclined.
